Course Description

This couse will prepare students to take the Project Management Insitute?s Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Exam. As a global certification, this certification can be applied to any of the following industries: Skilled Trades, Creative, Healthcare, Engineering, Natural Resources, Transportation, Clean Energy, etc. to plan and execute small and large scale projects. Included is the PMP/CAPM initial Exam Fee and a one year membership to PMI.org, which enroll participants into Project Management Institute – National and the Hawaii Chapter, where they will have access to all local programs, networking, and professional learning resources the chapter has to offer and have access to all the global organization offers through its online portal, .

Pre-requisites include: Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience implementing Projects OR 5 years of experience implementing Projects

Learning Outcomes

Apply project management principles and practices aligned to current PMI standards and PMP examination domains.

Analyze projects using systems thinking to identify stakeholder dynamics, organizational constraints, risks, and opportunities for value delivery.

Distinguish and tailor predictive, agile, and hybrid project management approaches based on project complexity, uncertainty, and organizational context.

Develop and evaluate key project management artifacts including project charters, stakeholder engagement strategies, schedules, risk registers, communication plans, and performance measures.

Apply leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement strategies to support collaboration, alignment, and successful project outcomes.

Assess project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints to support informed decision-making and adaptive project execution.

Interpret and apply PMP examination concepts, terminology, and situational reasoning to successfully analyze and respond to PMP-style exam questions.

Evaluate project scenarios and recommend appropriate project management strategies that balance stakeholder needs, organizational priorities, and value delivery objectives.

Demonstrate readiness for the PMP certification examination through applied practice assessments, scenario analysis, and exam simulation activities.
